BSD City, March 18, 2021 — Southeast Asian renowned technology company Traveloka officially introduces its new headquarters, Traveloka Campus, at BSD Green Office Park, BSD City, Tangerang Regency, today. The company has decided to move to the new office building as it tries to adopt a green living lifestyle, since the Traveloka Campus building was named Gold Winner in FIABCI Indonesia REI Excellence Awards 2020 and certified Gold from the Green Building Council Indonesia. Traveloka Campus is located at BSD Green Office Park (GOP), the first office district in Indonesia to receive Green Mark District from Singapore-based Building and Construction Authority (BCA). The opening ceremony was marked by the unveiling of the Traveloka Campus’ logo and attended by Communications and Informatics Minister Johnny G. Plate, Tourism and Creative Economy Deputy Minister Angela Tanoesoedibjo, and Tangerang Regent Ahmed Zaki Iskandar.

In his opening speech, Johnny said he hoped Traveloka’s presence in BSD City would support the local digital economic development with a good assimilation between the property sector and technology sector. “We have to admit that a country’s technological advancement depends on the crucial roles of many stakeholders. All sectors are expected to collaborate and adopt the updated technological trends. As the number of Indonesian tech companies keep rising, then hopefully the number of the smart-concepted offices will grow as well, so there should be more innovations and contributions for Indonesians,” he said. He also believed that people would be more digitally-literate, including in the tourism industry, someday.
Meanwhile, Angela said the Covid-19 pandemic had changed the way people travel, thus making digital technology so necessary. “By using digital technology, it will be very easy for tourists to book a hotel, book attraction tickets or tourism object entrance tickets, or pay all transactions by accessing the related apps on their smartphones, so there should be less chance of making any physical contacts. That way, despite the different public behaviors today, the new innovations especially for traveling and tourism will help people a lot. The Traveloka Campus’ official opening at Digital Hub hopefully can support Traveloka to innovate and contribute more to accelerating the national tourism recovery,” she said.
Traveloka Co-Founder Albert said Traveloka’s office at BSD City Digital Hub would hopefully contribute well to his company’s development. “As a tech company with a dynamic and innovative work environment, it is important for us to have a work atmosphere that supports productivity and creativity. This is why we have made Traveloka Campus as our operational center and hub to bring new innovations which are relevant to the current situation. We also fully understand that innovations are created from good collaborations with the related stakeholders. Thus, we would like to thank the government, partners, and users for their support for Traveloka even until today, that Traveloka continues to evolve and present high-tech innovative breakthroughs. We appreciate the warm welcome from Sinar Mas Land for our new office at BSD Green Office Park as well,” he said.
In addition, Group CEO of Sinar Mas Land Michael Widjaja gladly greeted Traveloka in BSD City and would give that company a hand to help it improve. He hoped the close distance between Traveloka’s new office and the other digital companies’ offices would result in the creation of useful innovations for the general public to assist them with their daily routines. BSD City Digital Hub is meant to be like Silicon Valley which gathers numerous tech companies to collaborate together. “Hopefully online travel company Traveloka will be hugely benefited by establishing its office in BSD City, whether to build talent pools or to support the technology development, so the tourism industry will rise again and the country’s economy will thrive,” he said.
Sinar Mas Land has already transformed its biggest independent city, BSD City, into a smart city. Sinar Mas Land also has developed Digital Hub in BSD City. Digital Hub covers a 26-hectare land and is dedicated to startups, community, education institutions, and multinational companies focusing on the digital and technology industry. As it grows, Digital Hub has become a home to innovation development centers of various global corporations.
Other than Traveloka, there are other digital technology companies operating in the area such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) Academy which joined in March 2020, Unilever, Grab, and NTT. Digital education institutions also make the list including Apple Developer Academy, Binar Academy, Purwadhika Digital Technology School, Techpolitan Digital Industry School, and Creative Nest. For information, the BSD City’s ecosystem will be even more complete as Monash University, the first foreign university in Indonesia, is coming over this October.
